Pilot Boat Master

Portsmouth

Permanent, Part Time 21 Hours

Here at Serco we’re looking for a Pilot Boat Master to join our us at our Portsmouth Site.

The key purpose of the role is to operate the vessel in a professional, effective and economical manner to Flag State and Class Standards. The Master takes rank and precedence over all crew members under his command. The Master’s first responsibility is for the safety of the vessel and its crew and passengers in compliance with STCW95, MARPOL regulations and COLREGs. In the event of an emergency, the Masters authority is absolute. The Master should ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by directing the vessels resources to meet the customer’s requirements.

The role offers plenty of variety with no two days the same. And whilst you’re supporting the Royal Navy and its allies we’ll be supporting you. As well as a competitive salary and benefits package you’ll also benefit from ongoing training and development from our supportive team.

What You Need To Do The Job
  • Boatmaster licence/RYA
  • STCW95 Certificate of Competency for the vessel they are operating.
  • All ancillary in date certificates required to gain/revalidate the above
  • ENG 1 Medical.
  • 30 hour Engine Room course
  • Basic Management
  • Health and Safety awareness
  • Manual handling
  • Managing customers and suppliers
  • ISM Code
  • Marine Industry Background
  • Understanding of a planned maintenance System (such as AMOS)
