We have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic Performing Arts Lecturer to join Bradford School of Art, specialising in Dance and Musical Theatre. Based in the historic Lister Building, this is a vibrant department where creativity thrives.

The successful applicant will transform the lives of students by providing outstanding teaching and support to reach their goals.

This is a fixed-term role until the end of June 2023 however there is potential for this role to be made permanent dependant on course uptake in the new academic year.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching on courses specified by the Head of Department/Head of School.
  • Participating actively in the development of curriculum; and where appropriate in cross College marketing activities.
  • Participating actively in the enrolment, induction, monitoring, profiling and initial assessment of students or trainees.
  • Devising individual learning plans and provide support for learners in line with the requirements of the course.
  • Responsibility to the Head of Department/Head of School for student discipline, counselling and guidance relating to all assigned classes.
  • Responsibility for the supervision and management of students on placements and offsite visits and activities where appropriate.
  • Acting as academic and pastoral tutor to assigned students.

Education & Training

  • A Degree (or equivalent) in Performing Arts/Dance/Musical Theatre
  • GCSE 5 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 5 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Academic or industrial or commercial experience in an area relevant to the programmes.
  • Ability to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.
  • Good organisational and administrative skills.
  • Experience of Good teaching/training.
  • Experience of student pastoral care and disciplinary procedures
  • Experience of course leadership responsibilities.
