Job content

Travel Co are small family run business based in the Northwest that that provide passenger transport for children and adults with special educational needs and disabilities.

The Job...

We’re looking for Passenger Assistants to accompany children for approx. 1.5hr in the morning and 1.5hr in the afternoon (approx.12-15hrs per week), 5 days per week (Monday to Friday, excl. Bank Holidays) within the Southport area.

You will be responsible for the care of passengers travelling on the vehicle from their front door to their school and back again. Passengers will vary with some needing more support than others, but throughout their journey they must feel safe, secure, and enjoy their experience.

Pay will be £150 per week on a zero-hours agreement meaning you’ll be paid for the days that you work. Start date can be arranged and training will be given.

As the route will be in Southport, you must be in or nearby to the area so that the vehicle can collect you from your home address. Please give your postcode when applying.

Dress Code...

You will be working in a minibus with passengers requiring your support, so something comfortable, secure, and smart casual is ideal. We don’t have a fixed dress code other than this because your ability to move round the vehicle safely in clothes you’re comfortable in is most important to us. You’ll be working on a vehicle with moving parts and passengers that may pull loose items of clothing, so anything more than smart casual (i.e. shirt and tie) would be inappropriate.

What You Need...

Essential:

Reliability is crucial in this role as without a passenger assistant the vehicle isn’t able to operate, and passengers miss out on their transport. You must be able to ensure your availability during route hours.

You must also have a caring and thoughtful nature with good patience and understanding for the passengers being transported. This must be evident in some of your previous work experience.

Some passengers can display challenging behaviour including some hitting, scratching. We need a PA who understands Autism and is willing to work with school / family to identify the best strategies for transporting passengers.

It is also essential that you’re willing to have an Enhanced DBS check carried out and be willing to complete training to support you in your role with us.

Desirable:

In terms of qualifications and experience, these points will put you above the rest...

- First Aid qualification

- Epilepsy Awareness & Medication Administration qualifications/experience

- Experience of providing Passenger Assistance on transport

Who Would This Job Suit...

This job would be fitting for someone who is looking for part-time work or is semi-retired with the aim of topping up their funds on a weekly basis. Someone who can commit to the workhours and be very reliable. Someone that wants to help and enjoy working with people that need that little bit more support.

Ideally suited, but not limited to, Ex-NHS/SEN School/Care Workers as they’ve had the medical and personal experience needed to tick the requirements we have.

If you are interested or have any questions at all, please contact us for more information. You can message us through Indeed.
