Distribution Team Member - Delivery Driver/Picker

Fixed term, temporary role until the end of the season, with a view to this being reviewed thereafter.

Part time although likely to increase during busy summer months.

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our growing distribution team as a delivery driver.

The role will mainly involve distributing our gelato products to our various parlours, sites and customers around the Highland area and slightly further afield, however other tasks within the business in terms of supporting the distribution team will be required to help the overall operation.

It will involve preparing orders for delivery, such as picking and packing our gelato products, as well as cones etc, ensuring each order is accurately prepared and loaded onto the van. There will be elements of heavy lifting and manual handling as the trays of gelato are stored on trollies that are used for transportation. Due to the nature of the product, this role will involve elements of working within the freezer and an awareness of temperature controls to ensure product quality is not compromised while delivering to our customers is required.

We are looking for someone with at least three years driving experience and no more than three points on their licence, ideally with previous experience driving a van, although training will be provided. We deliver using a Luton van with a tail lift so previous experience driving a similar sized vehicle would be advantageous. As you will be driving a branded Miele’s van, you will need to have a courteous and safe driving manner.

The role will involve completing pre-delivery vehicle safety checks as well as accurately recording temperature records upon each delivery.

The role is initially temporary, fixed term until the end of the season in October, although this will be reviewed thereafter and may lead to a permanent position. The role is part time, however during busy summer periods there will be additional hours available and could lead to full time hours.

Skills/Experience

• Minimum 3 years driving experience on a full UK licence. (For insurance requirements, depending on length of experience this may need to be extended.)
• No more than 3 points on licence
• Previous Luton van driving experience preferred but not essential
• Delivery experience preferred but not essential. Please note this role will involve elements of heavy lifting/manual handling
• Friendly and professional manner
• Ability to provide excellent customer service as this role will require you to represent the Miele brand at our Parlours and external sites
• Ability to work without constant supervision
• Excellent communication skills
• Able to adapt to different needs of the business to support the team where required.

Part-time hours: 20 per week

Salary: £9.50-£10.42 per hour
