Working Pattern

Shifts run 5 days per week rotating through a 5-week pattern covering Sunday to Friday inclusive. Team members must work 2 Sundays in every 5.

Mon to Fri shifts are 10.00 to 18.30, Sunday shift is 08.30 to 17.00

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Transport Planner to join our dynamic team at Best Food Logistics. As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to improve transportation networks, on time deliveries, reduce congestion, and enhance overall mobility. The better utilisation of vehicle fill, utilisation in line with availability.

As our next Transport Planner, you should be highly motivated, well organised, have a can-do attitude individual and a solid grounding in Transport & Logistics planning in an FMCG environment.

Working alongside the Operations teams you will complete day to day route planning exercises to enhance service & efficiency at the Distribution Centre’s.

  • Completing route changes, supporting the full re-planning process and with an increasing emphasis on continual improvement, including investigating & analysing route performance daily to identify areas for improvement.
  • Each day we complete a full review of the live routes against real ordered volume. This process allows changes to the routes to make sure orders fit and that they run on-time.
  • We put a strong emphasis on Service and within that the Transport Planners have several objectives. Routes need to be planned to comply with legal and agreed business parameters. Within that umbrella we aim to run On-Time, hitting high delivery performance targets of over 92% whilst maintaining high levels of vehicle efficiency.
  • Reliability and flexibility are also key aspects of this varied role.
  • An accurate and methodical approach to your work.
  • To be well organised and self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative at times.
  • Possess and be able to demonstrate good all round MS Excel skills, preferably to intermediate level.
  • To be a confident communicator, able to present work in a clear and concise manner.
  • To be comfortable working to strict deadlines whilst remaining accountable for your work.
  • The ability to build close working relationships and form part of a small hard-working team. This is vital along with a clear willingness to get involved and help solve problems.
