Substantive Palliative Medicine Consultant Post (Part Time 6.5PAs) Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

Salisbury Specialist Palliative Care Service is a well established, dynamic and integrated service incorporating a ten bedded inpatient unit, community team, hospice at home service, hospital support team, day care, family support and bereavement services.

Main duties of the job

The service is based at Salisbury Hospice, on the Salisbury District Hospital site and so has very strong links with the hospital staff and facilities as well as primary care colleagues. The hospital is situated in a rural area on the edge of the cathedral city of Salisbury. It has excellent transport links to the South West, South coast and London. The successful applicant will work across all branches of the service providing support and supervision to the existing medical and nursing team, we can accommodate preferences toward, In-patient, community or acute hospital involvement and specialist interests.

The consultants provide second on call to the hospice medical team. The existing medical team comprises four part time consultants in Palliative Medicine (this post replaces one of these posts due to retirement), with F2, GPVTS and Specialty Doctor cover on the inpatient unit and a Specialist Registrar working mainly in the community.

GETTING TO WORK

We offer parking on site at Salisbury District Hospital, a daily charge applies. We encourage our staff to utilise other green methods of getting to work such as cycling or walking where possible, and our Trust is well connected through the bus services to the city centre and other areas.

If this job requires you to have DBS check to enable you to properly fulfil the requirements of the job, on appointment, you will be required to replay the cost of obtaining a DBS check and this amount will be reclaimed in instalments from your salary.
