Job Title: Operations Team Leader

Location: Bromborough, Wirral

Salary: Up to £45,386 (inclusive of shift allowances) + potential bonus + other benefits

Position Summary

The Autonomous Working Group Team Leader role will have ownership and lead production to ensure the plan is fully achieved on time and in compliance with standards and legal requirements, meeting safety, quality, hygiene, cost and environment needs on a 24-hour, 7 day a week operation in the manufacture of "gold standard" breakfast cereals.

One of your key outputs will be to drive engagement and continuous improvement through NCE approach and tools.

You will be an experienced manager to allow you empower and inspire people by connecting with them and developing their capability. Involve all relevant functions to deliver production plans and contribute to sustainably meet the Factory OMP targets to accelerate the business ambition.


A day in the life of… a Team Leader


Your main focuses and responsibilities daily will include but would not be limited to:

  • Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with local laws and safety, health and environment standards by identifying risks associated to activities within area of responsibility (including those outsourced to or handled by external providers). Strive for zero unsafe conditions and behaviours to achieve zero accidents through use of the BBS and safety tag systems.
  • Co-ordinate duties of the Technician group throughout the shift ensuring work is prioritised in accordance with production plans, schedules and operational requirements.
  • Adopt and nurture a working style which actively involves and motivates your team, promoting an environment of continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Lead to establish and further develop operational standards in all key areas of operations, SHE, Quality & Performance
  • Lead a continuous improvement/employee engagement culture through using NCE approach and tools to improve on all KPIs. Liaise with support departments and use their resources to make necessary changes.
  • Provide positive role model for PPE, GMPs and ensure routines and standards are maintained across all shifts and departments through coaching and challenge where required.
  • Develop organisational capability by supporting and co-ordinating in the transfer and enhancement of skills through coaching others and putting programmes/processes in place to continuously improve and share current best practice within the team.
  • To own your teams training plan and where appropriate provide active training and coaching.
  • Assist in the implementation of Continuous improvement programmes.

What will make you successful?


  • Proven experience in a production manufacturing environment – Essential
  • Knowledge of breakfast cereal processes and techniques - Desirable
  • Experience in a team leadership position advantageous, but not essential.
  • Knowledge of raw and packaging materials used in the production of breakfast cereals.
  • High level of mechanical and technical comprehension advantageous.
  • Understanding of Safety, Engineering, Quality and Labour regulations.
  • TPM or Lean Manufacturing experience is desirable.
  • Able to provide guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability; highly proficient in organisation and planning.
