The Operations Support Manager is a senior management role for Flexigrid to manage and drive performance and efficiency in key areas including:

  • Driver Training
  • Insurance
  • Contracts and Procurement

Liaising with key stakeholders in related functions and reporting to a member of the Flexigrid

Leadership team, the role holder will be expected to establish goals and objectives for each
are of accountability and lead team members to deliver improved service, safety, costs and
efficiency wherever possible, aligned to Flexigrid’s strategy. Providing visible active leadership to direct reports and ensuring a positive work culture in line with Greenergy’s values is a key dimension.

Key Responsibilities:

Driver Training Team

  • Line Responsibility for Driver Training Team
  • Ensure all statutory and company driver training and assessment is delivered as required and to meet agreed frequency and intervals
  • Support continuous review of training modules, standards and objectives to meet the changing needs of the business and to improve safety service and cost.
  • Establish close links with key stakeholders e.g. National Logistics Manager, SHEQ Manager, to help identify and adjust training to meet the changing business needs, providing reporting and KPI measures to aim and track performance
  • Manage the driver training team, seeking to ensure consistency and efficient resource deployment, identifying opportunities to improve costs, safety or service, holding members accountable for productivity and standards.
  • Through the Training Support and Inductions Co-ordinator , ensure all driver terminal inductions are co-ordinated and kept up to date as required.

Insurance

  • Act as key liaison and support point in Flexigrid for Greenergy’s Insurance Manager
  • Co-ordinate Insurance claims to improve outcomes and recoveries and ensure our Insurers are managing claims effectively.
  • Provide performance reports and support ad-hoc queries, working with Flexigrid’s Supply Chain Manager
  • Work with operations leads to ensure claims are managed effectively and supporting materials, investigations etc. are completed.
  • Seek to mitigate claims exposure and identify opportunities to improve the company’s risk profile and premiums

Contracts and Procurement

  • Act as the business champion in these areas to support good procurement practices and co-ordinate contractual terms with suppliers and customers – linking closely in in each case to respective functional support teams.
  • Ensure all suppliers and subcontractors operate against acceptable terms and formal contractual positions – intervening with colleagues where appropriate to ensure they fulfil their part in this objective.

General Management

  • Effective communication with everyone in the team - listening, inspiring and flexing approach as appropriate
  • Delegating and empowering the team – driving the team to deliver great results
  • Coaching and quality feedback to all team members
  • Quality and fair PRP performance reviews and ensure the write-ups on time

  • Any other reasonable tasks as requested where central Operations Support may be identified./deemed necessary

Based in Tamworth, with national travel as necessary

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Extensive relevant transport industry experience
  • IT literate (Word,Excel,Poweproint) with proven skills and experience in report writing / business case preparation

DESIRABLE

  • Educated to degree standard
