Could you be a Sense Community Support Worker?

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a BSL Communicator Guide (Community Support Worker) to join our team in West Midlands.

This is a permanent role, working 15 hours per week looking after 2 individuals from the following locations: Oldbury (5 hours) and Walsall (10 hours).

This is a fun and rewarding opportunity to support the individuals who have Deafblindness to access the community for social and leisure purposes. A BSL Level 3 qualification is required as a minimum to communicate with them.

You will be supporting both people to participate in activities they enjoy and have meaningful experiences. You will support them to make their own choices of how they want to spend their day, but a typical day in this role might be spent:

  • One individual volunteers at a Café
  • Attending appointments
  • Shopping online or in-store
  • Social & Leisure Activities

The duties are varied and no two days will be the same. The people we support are individuals and they are all treated as such.

Your duties can include:

  • To support individuals / groups within the centre and community.
  • To provide a customised, responsive and high quality service to people with multiple sensory impairments, physical and/or learning disabilities who use Sense services.
  • To deliver services which meet or exceed organisational expectations and standards.

Your required skills and experiences:

  • You require a full UK license and must be willing to drive your own vehicle (Mileage paid 0.45 pence per mile).
  • A minimum of a Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification is required.
  • Experience in Care and being confident working in a lone working setting is essential.
