HMP Rye Hill is a category ’B’ training prison situated in the village of Willoughby, near Rugby in Warwickshire, holding approximately 664 sentenced male adults.

Within Care and Rehabilitation Services, the philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe and causes of prison stress are minimised. Central to our philosophy is the relationship between staff and prisoners. Our training and operational practices emphasise the need to treat prisoners with dignity and respect and G4S staff build positive and supportive relationships with the prisoners in their care.


G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 4 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.

We are looking for experienced Middle Managers, with Prison or Custodial experience, to join the operational Team at HMP Rye Hill. To succeed in this role, you will be a dynamic and engaging individual, who shares our ethics and values. You must deliver an exceptional service and can be flexible in working in diverse functions within the prison. You will also need to have excellent communication skills and be able to motivate and empower officers to deliver outstanding results. A proven operational manager, you will inspire your team and have the ability to win hearts and minds.

In this role, you will manage the efficient and effective operation of allocated functional residential units working together creating positive and diverse working environments within in a number of critical areas around the Prison:

  • Children Families and Relationships
  • Audits
  • Physical Security
  • Residential
  • Activities
  • Offender Management Services
  • Intelligence Security
  • Safer Custody and Safeguarding

The Ideal Candidate:

It’s key that you are flexible and adaptable to deal with ever-changing scenarios within the prison. You will be supported by an enthusiastic and committed team at HMP Rye Hill.

The successful candidate will need to evidence operational excellence within a secure environment, an understanding of contractual compliance, as well as successfully managing a team.
