The Role
We are seeking an Contract Logistics Operations Manager to join our busy team in Christchurch.

This position is responsible in ensuring the logistical needs of clients are constantly met, and to ensure the efficient running of daily activities so they are achieved and constantly improved.

Departmental/Operational Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Ensuring effective team structure is in place in order to meet customer SLA’s and day to day running of operation in Christchurch;
  • Assigning specific tasks to Supervisors or Team Leaders and ensure full accountability; Implementing, monitoring, and publishing KPI’s as provided by the customer agreement;
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvements with active involvement from the staff at monthly meetings;
  • Developing and managing client appropriate Inventory management disciplines on-site for all clients;
  • Ensuring DIFOT on all deliveries under the control of the facility;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant internal WHS policies along with any national legislation;
  • Ensuring 100% capture for revenue generated on all VAS, OOS activity on site. Review and ensure the integrity of billing files;
  • Conducting Operational meetings with Customer’s 3PL Vendor Manager, and ensure all issues are logged, on a weekly or monthly basis as required; Monitoring Profit & Loss;
  • Identifying skill gaps through conducting regular performance reviews (twice yearly) and feedback sessions (monthly/quarterly); Managing performance of team/individuals.
Competencies and Skills required:
  • Previous experience in 3PL, distribution and road transport as well as customer relationship building;
  • Degree or equivalent, or 4-10 years of relevant experience in a similar environment; Excellent Customer Service skills;
  • Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills; Strong understanding of complex warehouse systems; Strong analytical ability to identify root cause analysis and develop continually sustainable solutions;
  • Well-developed conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to monitor the progress of direct reports and to delegate effectively;
  • Leading and motivating a team of subordinates to achieve strategic goals;
  • Ability to develop team members and to impart knowledge and develop shared solutions;
  • MS Office applications (advanced excel) and WMS
