We have a fantastic and exciting opportunity to join the leadership team at STH Westco Ltd. STH Westco is part of the STH Group based in 4 countries across Europe and South Africa. We are owned by a leading global investment firm who are looking to grow and expand the Group over the next three years.

STH Westco is a well-established organisation within in the plumbing and heating market, supplying over 5,500 product lines nationwide predominately to the merchant market. Our business has an exciting future ahead and we are looking for a dynamic, forwarding thinking Operations Director to help us in our journey. The UK Office and warehouse facility is based in Leigh, Greater Manchester where we currently employee circa 100 personnel.

Main responsibilities

• Contribute to the STH Group strategy in the areas of purchase, distribution, production, and supply chain to ensure that the company achieves its short and long-term objectives.
• Collaborate with executive level management to ensure effective co-ordination of all company activities in support of corporate objectives i.e. across end to end value adding processes; product management, sales, marketing etc.
• Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance, helping to implement organisation goal setting, performance management and annual operating planning.
• Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organisational outcomes are met.
• Maximise efficiency and productivity through extensive process analysis and inter-department collaboration.
• Plan, monitor and analyse key metrics for the day-to-day performance of operations to ensure efficient and timely completion of tasks.
• Develop and control operational budgets to promote profitability and ensure the company has all the resources required to meet its objectives within agreed financial parameters.
• Ensure effective recruitment, onboarding, professional development, performance management and retention.
• Direct and control operational functions to ensure that goods are of the required standard are available to customers within agreed costs and at the right times.
• Oversee purchasing to ensure that the company has the goods and services required within agreed costs and quality standards.
• Direct and control warehousing and distribution functions to ensure that customers are supplied with the right quantities of goods at the right times.
• Uphold company policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed.
• Develop all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent and relevant professional qualifications (preferred)
• Extensive operations management experience
• Significant industry experience within B2B and / or distribution businesses
• In depth knowledge of diverse business functions and principles e.g, supply chain, customer service etc
• Analytical skills to evaluate data and performance/operation metrics
• Excellent inter-personal and negotiating skills and personal integrity
• Excellent organisational and leadership abilities
• Excellent time management skills
• Excellent decision-making skills
• Be able to diagnose problems quickly and have foresight into potential issues

Salary & Company Benefits

Base £70,000.00 per annum (negotiable)

Bonus 25% of base

Holidays 28 days + public holidays

Hours of work 8.30am – 5.00pm
