Operational Research Specialist / Data Scientist

An opportunity has arisen to join the Supply Chain team. This position will report into the Director, Supply Chain, Parts EME.

Our Supply Chain team is looking for an enthusiastic operational research/data scientist professional with a strong mathematical background. The successful candidate should be capable of undertaking independent investigation and develop techniques for process improvement. The successful candidate will also have experience in understanding business needs and translating them into an operation research hypothesis/data-science problem.

This role is responsible for the end-to-end implementation of analytical use cases to support EME and Global initiatives with data driven insights.

Job Description

• Develop a solid understanding of the business and the different supply chain teams in order to be able to form and solve relevant analytical problems

• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders for gathering of business requirements and translating them into analytical problems that can be resolved by leveraging statistics, machine learning, time series forecasting, operational research and business analysis. One of the projects will be our Forecast Method Selection process. The project aim will be to replace our current forecast-method (FMS) selection process which seeks to minimize variance (MAPE) with a new custom approach which will assign the right forecast method based on the optimal balance among inventory and fill rate

• Utilize programming (Python, SQL etc.) to analyze big data hosted in multiple systems and build advanced statistical models and analytical tools to create/improve business processes. Starting with our global RDSL (Recommended Dealer Stocking List) initiative which is a new data driven metric. The project aims to optimize our stocking recommendations to dealers to improve the quality and consistency of RDSLs through statistical analysis of parts with similar attributes

• Build & deploy production scale models on large-scale datasets using advanced analytics techniques for Supply Chain concepts

• Promote utilization of Operational Research tools and techniques within the wider Supply Chain team

• End-to-end use case implementation (data preparation, data exploration, statistical analysis, time series analysis, model deployment, data visualization).

• Presentation of analytical results to stakeholders and actionable recommendations to business

• Identification of value generating analytical use cases and feasibility studies/proof of concept implementations

• Development of best practices and acting as an ambassador for data and insight driven culture within Aftersales

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Operational Research. PhD preferred.

• Relevant working experience in an analytical/data science role working with big data (data extraction, processing and analysis, statistical modeling, visualization)

• Practical experience with data querying language SQL and Python programming

• Practical experience in applying multivariate statistical methods, machine learning models, time series forecasting

• Solid experience in using Tableau

• Proven ability to convey rigorous technical concepts and considerations to non-experts

• Team player able to collaborate within an international team with strong business focus

• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
