Job Overview

A vacancy has arisen in our community stroke rehabilitation team for a senior occupational therapist. The team provides rehabilitation for people who have had a stroke in their homes and at Corbett Rehabilitating Centre once they have been discharged from hospital.

The Community Stroke Rehab Team are a highly motivated, specialist multidisciplinary team and provide an excellent quality therapy service working collaboratively with the inpatient and intermediate care teams as well as the Dudley Stroke Association.

You will have responsibility for the supervision therapy assistants and students.

You must have experience of working in the stroke rehabilitation. Evidence of staff supervision is desirable but not essential.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Community Stroke Rehabilitation Pathway in Dudley Rehabilitation Service, providing effective and efficient Occupational Therapy (OT) to a caseload of patients who have had a stroke. Duties will include assessment, therapy (both group and/or individual as appropriate), planning therapy programmes and discharge of patients, as well as appropriate delegation of work to assistants and students. Working as a lone practitioner within people’s own home and Clinic settings, using evidence based/client centered principals to assess, plan, treat and evaluate interventions.

Education and Qualifications
  • Degree /Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registered
Essential Criteria

Skills & Experience
  • Significant and wide range of post qualification experience
  • Clinical experience of working with stroke patients as a band 5 or band 6
Desirable criteria
  • Basic IT/Keyboard skills
  • experience of working in the community
Personal qualities

Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrates evidence of effective self-management including time, prioritisation, clinical caseload and demanding situations
