IMP Primary Care Network are looking for an enthusiastic person to join their friendly team, as a Domiciliary Nursing Associate to primarily provide care at home to patients across the network.

IMP Healthcare Ltd is PCN of nine GP practices based in Lincoln and the surrounding villages. Together we cover a population of circa 70,000 patients.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the IMP team, helping to provide a high quality and caring service to our local population.

Main Duties of the Job

The Domiciliary Nursing Associate is to have the following key responsibilities and attributes, in delivering health services:

a. Delivery of high quality, compassionate care whilst undertaking specific clinical and care tasks under the direction of a registered nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on PCN), with a focus on promoting good health and independence.

b. To provide high-quality holistic and person-centred care to individuals

c. To provide wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required

d. Work as part of the PCN’s MDT to provide and monitor care, under direct or indirect supervision

Job responsibilities

The Nursing Associate works alongside a team within general practice and within the Primary Care Network (PCN). The post holder will be an integral part of the general practice team, working as and when required in each organisation and across the IMP PCN, to deliver care to patients within healthcare settings and within patients’ homes.

Their principal task is to support registered nurses to enable them to be able to focus on the more complex clinical care of patients. This job description and person specification is based on:

· The minimum role requirements outlined in Annex B section B11 on page 92 of the Network Contract Direct Enhanced Service Contract Specification 2020/21 – PCN Requirements and Entitlements (17th September 2020)

· The Royal College of Nursing Standards of proficiency for nursing associates. (Published 10th October 2018)

· Employing Nursing Associates lists information and resources for employers and emphasises that nursing associates should meet the same standards of behaviour and conduct as nurses and midwives and adhere to the same Code which seeks to:

o Promote professionalism and trust

IMP Healthcare will ensure that the postholder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the PCN to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nursing Associate and on the NMC register
  • Meets the specific qualification and training requirements as specified in the Nursing Midwifery Standards of proficiency by having undertaken and completed the two-year Foundation Degree delivered by a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) - approved provider
  • GCSE Grade A-C in Maths & English or skills level 2 Maths & English or equivalent
  • Is registered with the NMC and revalidation is undertaken in line with NMC requirements.

Experience

Essential

  • Ability to work effectively as a team player under appropriate supervision, and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the nursing associate in the context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Evidence of time management skills and ability to prioritise
  • Intermediate IT skills
  • Ability to communicate with members of the public and health and care providers
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understand the importance of following procedures and treatment plans
  • Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate
  • Chaperone procedure
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes
