We are looking for a strong and experienced Nursery Assistant here at our lovely Tops Bretonside nursery, a fun nursery located in the heart of the town making it an ideal for parents and carers living or working in the centre of Plymouth.

Employees benefit from being within a thriving arts community, the nursery is in close proximity to the Theatre Royal and the Mayflower House of Arts.

The 48 place nursery has the benefit of being surrounded by a vast amount of different attractions and places to explore. A few examples include the nearby north quay which hosts a stunning aquarium, access to numerous sites of historical interest such as the Mayflower Steps Memorial and also Hoe Park with its large, green spaces and lighthouse! By having such a central setting it allows us to offer the children a wide variety of activities and experiences. The nursery run a number of extra-curricular activities including Tops Forest School, cooking school, Boogie Mites, yoga, meditation and much more!

About You

  • We are looking for someone that has a warm, smiling face that makes every child feel special.
  • Support our ethos in providing a brighter, more sustainable future for children
  • Ideally you should able to read stories upside down, with at least 10 interruptions per page.
  • Must be willing to provide a stimulating early year’s education and support the next generation to learn and develop… whilst having lots of fun!
  • You will preferably have a little quirkiness – If a child request that you be an astronaut navigating a rocketship full of dinosaurs through out of space, you will be the best astronaut you can be!
  • You must be prepared to have a lot of fun in the workplace. Laughter is something you can expect to engage in for a large part of your working days.
  • Must not be afraid to dance in the rain, make mud pies, build sandcastles in the snow and explore the local environment.
  • Possessing the skills required to rapidly count the heads of numerous moving small people is of the utmost importance.
  • Nose-wiping skills desired
  • Finally, you must be prepared to feel loved, special and important to many young children and their families. There is no better feeling than watching that tiny 3 month old baby grow in to a well-educated pre-schooler preparing for big school!

All successful candidates will be subject to safety checks, including a full-completed Application Form and a DBS Check.

The successful candidate must be willing to develop and go onto sit their Level 3 Early Years Qualification through our Aspire Training Team
