Innovation Chef – Oldham

Park Cakes is a c£180 million business which manufactures cake and desserts to supply the own brand products of major retailers. The vacancy is at our Oldham site which supplies mostly to M & S.

Our products include, high end celebration cake products, slab cakes and mainstream desserts.

This role is responsible for the delivery of innovative ’best in class’ products in line with business innovation strategy and longer-term new product development ideas. This includes researching the latest trends in food and ingredients to ensure the business is at the forefront of innovation.

Example Duties

  • To generate ideas and product concepts in line with innovation strategy and longer NPD plans
  • To raise awareness of food trends amongst customer teams
  • To raise awareness of new competitor products and activities amongst the customer teams
  • To Increase consumer and customer awareness
  • To develop awareness within the development team of factory capability and product feasibility
  • To manage the product concepts to customer concept approval stage, owning products through RAG and supporting the Concept Technologist on ideas
  • Ensure all products developed are costed accurately

Skills and Experience

  • To be considered for this role you will ideally already be a Development / Innovation Chef within a Food manufacturing environment, or be an experience pastry or patisserie chef.
  • Confidence and communication skills are key as you will need to work well with others and build relationships.
  • Organisation skills, the ability to prioritise is important as you will be working in a busy environment
  • Applicants will be required to work on their own without supervision.

Package:Salary for this position is £35k + Benefits including 25 days holiday a year and 8 statutory holidays, Pension scheme, Discount scheme on purchases from high street retailers
