Could you become a trustee at Community Inclusive Trust in Grantham? The board seeks to recruit a variety of skills across three roles.

The Academy Ambassadors programme brings the expertise of the business world onto boards at multi-academy trusts (MATs) throughout the country to raise standards of education and improve the life chances of young people, which is critical to our social and economic success.

The opportunity

Community Inclusive Trust (CIT) was established in September 2014 and consists of a mix of Special schools covering the full age range, and some primary schools, across Lincolnshire. The trust seeks to appoint three new non-executive directors with a range of skills. Board meetings are held in the Grantham area.

The board seeks three senior leaders with board level experience in
  • Finance
  • Legal/ Compliance
  • Education
  • Risk
  • Change Management
  • Growth Management
  • Restructuring


As a Key Member Of The Board You Will Support The Trust In Achieving The Following Over The Next 12 - 24 Months
  • To address financial challenges presented by the current economic climate. The trust has an annual budget of c.£25m and has a small annual surplus. The trust is keen to maintain the tight financial prudence;
  • To unify systems across all the schools and ensure economies of scale, in respect to finances and time efficiencies;
  • To develop further the LEARN professional learning and school improvement arm of the trust;
  • To grow the trust to be the forefront of change, and attract/retain the best leadership and educational talent in schools.

What’s involved?

Board governance in education is a strategic, ’eyes on, hands off’ commitment which typically involves attending c. six board meetings per year/6-8 hours’ time per month.

You Will Be Responsible For
  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent

As an Academy Ambassador, you will join our ambassador network which provides resources, guidance, networking events and webinars to support you in your role.

All roles are pro bono.
