Hours: 12 Hour shift – 2 days 2 nights 4 off.

What will you be doing?


As part of an SSD Assure team in a Network Management Centre you’ll be looking after multiple networks, providing 24 x 7 operational support to Government customers. You will provide expert technical services focusing on Transmission elements within the SSD network, but also be able to provide support on a broad range of transmission elements as required.

  • Undertake Assure team maintenance and fault work in accordance with customer service level agreements.
  • Undertake/provide remote commissioning work on Tx and other equipment deployed on customer and network sites to current specifications.
  • Deal effectively/efficiently with queries from customers.
  • Perform regular audits on the networks and systems.
  • Provide technical support to others in the department and to customers. Make recommendations to SSD management on complex technical matters.


Who are we looking for?


The successful candidate should have:

  • The ability to maintain Customer confidentiality and to hold Developed Vetting (DV - STRAP) level security clearance.
  • In depth knowledge of Transmission equipment and networks, DWDM, SDH, PDH, etc, in a telecoms provider environment.
  • Awareness of configuration of Ciena and Alcatel equipment.
  • A clear and analytical approach to problem management.
  • Understanding of ITIL working practices.
