Salary: Grade 5 Points 22 to 27

£28,201 to £32,753 per annum (subject to pending job evaluation)

Our Digital Infrastructure faculty requires an IT Network Officer on a fixed term basis until 31st July 2022. Working closely with the Digital Infrastructure Manager you will ensure the availability and integrity of West Lothian Colleges Internet Protocol Telephony (IPT) network equipment.

The range of duties is wide, requiring initiative, adaptability and the ability to work under pressure. You will possess good communication skills and will provide a helpful, responsive and courteous service to all users (staff and students) and work in cooperation with all sections of the faculty to ensure the furtherance of its operational and strategic objectives.

You will install, update, maintain and repair the communications systems and associated equipment, providing technical advice and assistance, implementing and supporting West Lothian College’s network infrastructure, including LAN’s, WAN’s, mobiles and telephone systems.

Previous experience in a Network or IT Operations role is required. Experience of the design, implementation and support of network telecom operations, particularly security, routing/switching, VLANS and VoIP technologies is essential.

Previous experience within an educational setting such as higher or further education would be desirable, as would previous experience with purchasing consortiums such as Janet Framework or Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC).

You will be qualified to SCQF Level 9 in a related subject, such as Computer Science, Information Sciences or Networking with evidence of continuous professional development. Professional qualifications such as ITIL v3 Certification would be desirable.

In line with COVID guidance the post may be required to be undertaken working remotely or on a hybrid basis with some hours worked on site and some from home.
