EllisKnight Technology are seeking an experienced, SC cleared (Security Check) Network Engineer contractor for this urgent outside IR35 Day rate contract opportunity based on client sites across the M4 corridor (Bristol, Herefordshire, Hampshire etc)
This will suit an experienced Network Engineer or Infrastructure Engineer, with current SC clearance who can start either immediately or within the next 2-4 weeks. Ideal experience will include role based access control/NSX-T rule base as well as designing, integrating and delivering very large scale and complex multi-tenant IT infrastructure solutions. Experience with complex secure/secret IT Infrastructure platforms, systems, applications or IT solutions previously, preferably with some Defence, Security, Intelligence, Government related work experience.

The Successful Candidate Will Have
  • Knowledge of Service-Orientated Architecture (SOA) design patterns and experience of large-scale IT Architectures
  • Profound knowledge of Network architectures and Virtualization Technologies.
  • Knowledge of client-server networking and database management.
  • Role based access control / VMware / NSX-T
  • Ability to provide technical system solutions, determine overall design direction and provide hardware recommendations for complex technical requirements.
  • Experience in planning and developing support processes and adhering to best practices.
  • Proven track record of defining and developing solutions to strict delivery timescales and budgets.

Responsibilities
  • Devise a suitable standard for the NSX-T rule base (naming conventions, tags, etc) tied to workload type on the platform
  • Define the NSX-T rule base. A zero trust model should be adopted to the VM level, even when multiple VM’s make up a single workload
  • Liaise with workload/app SME’s to identify appropriate firewall policies for workloads

(There is no NSX intelligence appliance available, nor vRealize Network Insight)
  • The rule base should target layer 7 App-ID and identity based firewall policies where possible
  • Ensuring designs support required system coverage and recovery targets (RPOs and RTOs) for successful recovery of core IT services
  • Create a configuration workbook of the rule base that can be referred back to
  • Apply the rule base to the existing NSX-T environments - seven in total
  • Rule base will be similar in each environment. The ability to export from and import to environments via some form of automation would be a bonus
