Job Title: Net Zero Senior Systems EngineerBusiness Area: Lucy Electric (EMS) LtdLocation: ThameJob PurposeWorking as part of a team of engineers you will be key to developing our next generation of embedded automation solutions. This is an excellent opportunity to work with our Innovation and Engineering teams to generate solutions to help our customers meet their Net Zero commitments.The role will be hands on, delivering work packages as part of a larger team. Working on both NPD and customer contracts, a key part of the role is the system definition and the associated requirements partitioning from the MRD/customer specifications, understanding the necessary trade-offs between quality, performance and cost. Also responsible for orchestrating design reviews at key stages during development and working with other disciplines to ensure that solutions are fit for purpose.There will also be other aspects, which are customer facing. This will involve understanding how and where the final deliverable will operate, taking the environmental, communications and overall integration with 3rd party platforms into account, feeding this back into the initial designs and requirements.You must have the ability to work with low TRL concepts and ideas and help mature the requirements and technologies to a level our partner companies and engineering teams can support. The ability to work on a broad range of system architectures using a wide variety of technologies is essential – so is the hunger to learn and expand your knowledge.Job Context

  • Use good engineering practice to design new and modify existing products using company specific software to produce designs and implement systems
  • Analyse scope and requirements, identify and solve problems
  • Where required take responsibility for the entire product life cycle, including specification, architecture, design, validation & qualification
  • Work with-in an agile multi-disciplined team
  • Be a key participant of design reviews
Key Accountabilities
  • Interface with customers to scope products/systems.
  • Orchestrate and attend design reviews, adhere to strict version control, fully document all work, and create content for user documentation, as agreed for each work package.
  • Prepare and maintain system level specifications and test cases.
  • Assist with project planning and reporting.
  • Maintain and apply best practice process for all aspects of development activities.
  • Keep up to date with best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to the sign-off and acceptance of Lucy products and systems.
  • Be a technical point of contact and support face to face meetings from the early bid phases through to sign-off and delivery.
Qualifications, Experience And SkillsMinimum Qualifications, Knowledge and ExperienceQualifications:
  • A degree in a relevant engineering subject (Systems/Hardware/Software engineering or equivalent), or 5+ years working in an engineering environment
  • Self-driven individual with hands-on skills
