Natural Infrastructure Officer - Role Profile.pdf

Grade C Fixed Term Contract until September 2023
We are looking to recruit an aspiring landscape professional to our Environmental Planning division to be part of the Green Estate team delivering our work programme in parks and green spaces across Plymouth. This post will work as part of the team to develop and deliver a number of Strategic Green Space projects including Derriford Community Park and Poole Farm, as well as Green Minds. These projects all focus on bringing community and nature together to find nature-based solutions and rewilding as part of a sustainable model of green estate management linking into Local Nature Recovery and Biodiversity Net Gain policies.

About the project Derriford Community Park is an exciting strategic green space project creating a new 147 hectare park in the north of the city, buzzing with nature and accessible to all. We are setting the blueprint for Future Parks nationally by growing people, nurturing enterprise and enabling a positive transition to net zero. The vision for DCP is a vibrant place where visitors enjoy a countryside experience set within a spectacular and tranquil natural landscape, within the city of Plymouth. Situated to the north of the city, the unique Community Park is 147 hectares made up of the beautiful Forder, Seaton and Bircham Valley Local Nature Reserves. Poole Farm, one of the last remaining working farms in Plymouth, is located at the heart of the Park and is surrounded by wooded valleys, meadows, grazing land and a new community orchard. Poole Farm is run by Plymouth City Council with the help of volunteers and acts as a hub site for environmental education, land-based skills learning, eco-therapy and urban rewilding.

Derriford Community Park is a key delivery site for Green Minds which aims to put nature at the heart of our decision making, recognising its role in shaping a healthy future for all. Running until 2023, Green Minds will test a broader, systems approach to delivering nature-based solutions and urban rewilding in Plymouth.
