Summary We’re looking for a National Countryside Manager – Filming & Locations, to join our team on a part time basis (15 hours per week). This role offers a unique opportunity to work for the UK’s largest conservation charity looking after vast areas of green spaces, countryside, coastline, and historic sites so that people and nature can thrive. You’ll advise on, and support, filming at our outdoor places and landscapes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. These are exciting times at the National Trust as we are growing our Filming & Locations team to oversee and manage the commercial filming business at our properties. Pay Range - Please note the salary advertised has been pro-rated to the part time working hours which includes a base salary of between £43,407 and £55,419 (FTE) What it’s like to work here The Filming & Locations team handles more than 150 new enquiries each month and on average every day there may be three to eight different production crews working across our sites. Even when you’re remote working, you’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary internal consultants, Operational Risk Business Partners, central and operational teams. This post is contractually based at our offices in Swindon, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree hybrid working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will require travel across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to meet with partners. What you’ll be doing You’ll maintain an overview of filming at our outdoor places to ensure that the right people are involved at the right time on filming projects. You’ll make sure that the filming activities comply with relevant legislation and maintain the National Trust’s standards of nature conservation to help drive standards and provide advice and support throughout the filming process, from the proposal through the planning, implementation and evaluation stages. You’ll oversee and manage the necessary ecological consultants and / or rangers who may be deployed to support the supervision of filming on site. You will apply lessons learned during filming to share and develop best practice across the organisation. For this position we’re looking for someone who has: Significant and extensive experience in relevant land, conservation, and access management, supported by appropriate qualifications to level 6 (or equivalent level of vocational experience) in the area of countryside management, nature conservation or ecology. Substantial knowledge and experience of ecological and environmental management, species, habitat, and practical land management. Substantial knowledge of nature conservation and relevant external issues such as animal welfare and bio-security, including legislation, consents/derogation, national policy and best practice. Knowledge of all health and safety and compliance requirements relevant to a countryside setting including wildlife and environmental legislation. Some practical experience of filming and photography at countryside locations Excellent prioritisation, project and planning skills The ability to build and maintain strong collaborative working relationships with multiple stakeholders both internally and externally.
