Position Overview:

The Modern Workplace Architect will be responsible for understanding end-user technology needs and building intuitive, high-performance solutions.

Supporting the End User Compute Service Manager and Mobility Service Manager, the Modern Workplace Architect will be responsible for understanding and improving current user experience, developing and delivering new user workflows, and interfacing with the business for any related projects. This position will be well-versed with capabilities of both the Microsoft 365 suite & other employee productivity solutions and services and will use their expertise to translate our employee’s needs into clear advice and technical design/architecture. The Modern Workplace Architect will be comfortable speaking to our employees ranging from field technicians to corporate staff to understand and build employee centric solutions.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Initiate and/or participate in technology projects. (40%)
  • Oversee or consult on business projects. (10%)
  • Creation of roadmap, design, implementation, and operation planning activities. (10%)
  • Collaborate with operations teams for contract management, monitoring, and optimization. (10%)
  • Evaluate technology industry and market trends determining the impact of technology changes on user experience. (10%)
  • Manage projects when PMs are not assigned – work within Project governance. (5%)
  • Lead design sessions with Finning personnel as well as external parties. (5%)
  • Assist as needed on smaller operational initiatives and provide support during major incidents (10%)

Accountabilities:
  • Design of service offerings and standard configurations.
  • Accountable for Finning’s global end to end design and solution selection relating to end user technologies.
  • Ensure all relevant Architecture and Infrastructure documentation is up to date and accurate.
  • Tier 3.5 escalation support for area of responsibility
  • Provide recommendations on technology to meet business and technical objectives.
  • Identify deficiencies in current designs and planned changes; recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Assist with technology governance activities.

Qualifications:
  • Professional certifications or equivalent experience from relevant vendors
  • 5 years or more experience working in an enterprise environment
  • 3 years or more architecture solutions within an enterprise organization
  • Business Analysis experience working directly with the business to understand their requirements
  • Broad knowledge of Desktop and mobile operating systems including Windows, MacOS, IOS and Android
  • Strong background of producing high quality documentation and solution artefacts.
  • Experience of designing and successfully delivering solutions, including supporting the production of proposals, SoW’s, high-level designs, RFP responses, roadmaps and strategies.
  • Experience with MDM solution including Intune and Soti
  • Senior level experience with Azure AD Workplace Join, SCCM
  • Experience with VDI and DaaS solutions monitoring/management, and data protection.
  • Clear understanding of Apple Business Manager, DEP program and other Apple related mobile device management services
  • Deep Microsoft 365 product knowledge complimented by enterprise digital identity, security, and end user computing experience.
  • Understanding of cloud architectures and strategy (public, private, and hybrid).
  • Integration and alignment with Modern Endpoint strategies
  • Architecture and implementing solutions in a global enterprise environment.
