Job Description

This is a new and dynamic role within the expanding Advisory team at Turner & Townsend. This role gives the opportunity for the successful candidate to be involved with developments that will help shape industry now and into the future.

The MMC Lead is responsible for developing our approach internally within the business and externally to clients and the market. MMC is part of our strategic focus as we continue to develop our Advisory and wider business proposition, as we respond to the challenges set by government for a new way of working. The role will require senior engagement across government and industry, as we champion MMC internally and externally to move the construction industry forwards.

Job Description, Duties And Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented individual to use their knowledge, experience and drive to challenge the current thinking and bring a compelling alternative to traditional construction.

Responsibilities Will Include The Following
  • Grounded in your MMC expertise, develop an approach for the business on what the future of construction looks like, which is integrated within the Advisory offering, harnessing the collective power of all Advisory divisions and the wider T&T business
  • Sharing your knowledge of the subject with our clients, helping to educate and support them in their understanding, procurement and use of MMC
  • Maximising the benefit of the subject industry knowledge and insight that you have by sharing it internally and demonstrating it externally
  • Developing commercial models that share risk and reward MMC innovation, leading future framework procurements and ensuring they deliver to plan and support value for money projects and programmes
  • Actively managing the engagement of internal and external stakeholders on MMC, building effective networks across Government, professional bodies, private sector, and ensuring productive relationships with supply chain and other external stakeholders.
Qualifications

You should be able to work with minimum supervision, taking responsibility and accountability for outcomes.

Experience of tackling problems and finding suitable solutions for end customer requirements.

Experience of effectively working through a diverse range of stakeholders, to achieve successful outcomes.

You should have experience of delivering projects to a standard control framework process.

Knowledge

Essential
  • Working knowledge of the modular and offsite markets and technology
  • Detailed understanding of the current UK construction market and factors influencing construction in the future
  • Knowledge of government strategy and process
  • Knowledge of digital technologies in construction
  • Experience of integration of planning and delivery across construction, smarter commercial relationships with supply chains and accelerating the use of modern methods of construction like offsite manufacturing
Skills
  • A strong communicator and able to present confidently to a wide range of audiences
  • A strong delivery and commercial focus with understanding of cost reduction strategies and leveraging purchasing to drive savings and benefits
  • Champions innovation and new technology, encourages ideas, creating a learning environment for self and others
  • IT literate
  • Able to think and act strategically, developing practical, innovative and creative solutions to the management of strategic issues and complex operational issues
Highly Desirable
  • Knowledge of the wider (global) offsite market
  • Knowledge of RIBA stages and experience of construction projects
  • Financial management experience
  • Contract management experience such as PPC 2000, NEC3 forms of contracts and contract remedies.
  • Understanding of Project Management techniques and processes
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate Degree in a related subject (e.g. project management, quantity surveying, construction or relevant subject matter).
  • Further second degree desirable
