YMCA DownsLink Group are currently seeking an experienced Mind the Gap Link Workerto join our team based in Brighton & Hove.You will be working on a part time, fixed term basis, 3.5 days per weekfor 1 year with likelihood of extension.In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £29,525 per annum, pro rata (circa £20,745 actual)

The Mind The Gap Link Worker Role

This role is part of the new all ages Brighton and Hove Community Wellbeing Service and is part of a new pilot to evidence the effectiveness of social prescribing for children and young people. The new post holder will deliver a swift response to the emotional and mental health needs of 11 to 25 year olds living or studying in the City through implementation of a social prescribing model, linking young people in to a broad range of services and interventions.

Responsibilities Of Our Mind The Gap Link Worker
  • Carry out a broad range of interventions. This will include but not be restricted to individual assessments, referrals and signposting, one-off support meetings, 1-4 sessions case working, facilitation of emotional well-being groups, facilitating psycho-educational groups, coaching and phone/email/face-to-face consultations.
  • Work within the social prescribing framework.
  • Attend reflective practice supervision, team meetings and line management meetings as required.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal and external services and to promote the Mind The Gap link worker model including production of a leaflet that explains the offer to service users and practitioners.
  • Liaise with appropriate statutory and voluntary sector agencies working in Education, Public & Mental Health and Social Care and build up appropriate networks that promote a rapid response into support for young people.
What we are looking for in our ideal Mind the Gap Link Worker:

Experience
  • Experience in delivering face to face emotional wellbeing case work, coaching and carrying out of assessments with young people to include working with high risk and complex issues
  • Experience of facilitating groups and/or delivering training
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of working independently as well as in a team
  • Experience of working in a community setting to short-term model
  • Experience of managing administrative tasks to include monitoring & evaluation and report writing
  • Experience and/or knowledge of local statutory and voluntary agencies
  • Experience of project development
Qualifications
  • Post-qualified at graduate or post graduate level Counselling Diploma or equivalent mental health qualification/training - this is not essential but desirable
  • BACP Registration or Accreditation and/or eligible for other Professional Accreditation e.g. UKCP/HPC - this is not essential but desirable
  • An in depth understanding of theory & practice and working to short-term models
  • Qualification for Assessors
Knowledge
  • A sound understanding of Child Protection & Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding issues and procedures
  • A sound understanding of Child Developmental processes
  • A knowledge of & ability to support appropriate pathways relating to mental health and social care for vulnerable children and young people
  • A proven knowledge of relevant Local and National Government mental health strategies
