Job content

You will be joining a national mental health charity who look after their staff (Investors in People Silver).

You will be providing support to people 18 and above with mental health support needs, and typically key working 3 – 4.

The project is a 17-bed supported housing service which is a 15-minute walk from Hampton Court rail station. You will be working as part of a team of 8 (all really supportive). The reason for the vacancy is the current member of staff is leaving to study a doctorate. Support you provide will include helping clients to develop daily living skills, access benefits and budgeting, helping them become more active within the community as well as providing support around accessing employment.

The working hours are Monday to Friday with 2 shift patterns (8am – 4pm or 12.30pm – 8.30pm), and one 4-hour Saturday shift a month (with 4 hours off during the week to compensate for this). Once a month you will also be on call for the week (but based at home, just on standby in case needed). The basic is £21,554 but with the on-call shifts etc this adds an extra £300 - £400 a month (this is not fixed and will depend on how many on-calls are done).

To apply, you will either have paid or voluntary experience supporting people on a one to on basis with mental health support needs. The charity will also consider graduates with a related degree looking to move into the sector. So, a psychology graduate or social work graduate could be a good fit.
