We’re looking for a creative, enthusiastic and passionate Media and Communications Manager who is an exceptional communicator to join our team. If you enjoy seeking out great news stories, creating interesting and engaging content and working as part of an innovative team, then this is the role for you.


Media and Communications Manager Overview

You will thrive on developing positive news stories and content to promote the University’s student and staff successes, research, international work and business engagement activities. As part of the busy Content and Communications team, you will contribute creative content to the University’s news webpages, social media channels and internal communications.


The role involves using and maintaining media monitoring and distribution software, creating the weekly round-up of the news and social media coverage for senior management and delivering various internal communications and activities. No two days will be the same – but your role will include liaising with the media, developing PR campaigns, advising internal clients about the best techniques and channels to promote their news and supporting major events.

To be successful in this role you will have


  • Considerable experience working in PR/Communications/News/Journalism
  • Be able to write creative and engaging media releases, editorial copy, features, web content and internal communications.
  • Have experience of developing and delivering external and internal communications plans.
  • As well as having an UpToDate knowledge and experience of digital and social media channels.
