Salary: £32,107 plus annual nightshift allowance of 16.5% (Equivalent to 33% per nightshift)

FTE: 1.0 (37.5 hours per week)

The University of Strathclyde, Estates Services, is seeking to recruit a Mechanical Services Chargehand to support the management of their Mechanical Services team. The team are required to operate and maintain H&V plant and equipment, steam and hot water boiler plant, drainage, domestic plumbing H & C water distribution systems, LEV systems and unvented hot water systems, domestic and commercial gas. There is a requirement to provide an out of hours emergency (24/7, 365 days) support role where they are contactable by telephone to provide emergency support i.e. technical guidance by telephone or attendance on site.

Applications are invited from existing Mechanical Services Engineering staff for the above post. Candidates should be time served with significant experience, have knowledge of Building Engineering Services and be able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision and have good communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will be required to assign/supervise work for Mechanical Services Engineering staff and deputise for the Engineering Foreman and Supervisor also attending meetings when required. The post is required to work a night/day shift which provides an additional allowance of 16.5% added to your annual salary and pension for 4 weekly rotation of day shift and night shift in accordance with the University’s terms and conditions. (Equivalent to 33% for each nightshift).
