We are currently looking for a Materials Manager to join our Siemens Rolling Stock Class 380 project in Glasgow. This is a fixed term position for 2 years.
As a Materials Manager, you will manage the flow of materials, equipment, goods, supplies and control the materials planning function for projects in conjunction with related procurement activities. You will also provide procurement support for the designated fleet by ensuring that materials are of the required standard and are available at the production facility to meet the requirements of the maintenance operations.
This is your role
- Manage and supervise the contract with third party Logistics Provider (3PL)
- Materials Management mechanism for traceability material, procurement, and installation status
- Logistics Chain Supervision - obtain, process, pass on information and close co-operation with all parties involved to ensure appropriate flow of materials, information and goods
- Site-related procurement activities
- Draft and develop materials procedures (e.g logistics, site reporting), operations support
- Auditing of processes where required
- Continuous improvement of the role in line with best practice
- Be aware of safety at work and be alert in identifying potential hazards by removing or minimizing them wherever possible by following all Health and Safety Procedures
What skills and experience you will need
- Proven experience within a logistics environment and knowledge of best practice logistical methods
- Experience in working with and improving warehousing processes
- Good working knowledge of Importing & Exporting of goods
- Good knowledge of IT systems and procedures
- A full drivers license is required
