Role Summary

This role encompasses many different aspects of warehouse work. As well as running the NCR (Non-conforming Parts) process and being part of a larger responsibility for NCR’s

The role of Material Controller will be responsible for all material activities associated with a busy warehouse environment. Having the ability to lead teams and cross-train to become multifunctional and flexible within the warehouse and logistics environment. Ensuring that all transactions are completed through the warehouse stock management system. This will be a hand’s on role ensuring that stock movements are cleared and picked in a timely manner. Awareness and adherence to the company’s Health and Safety policies. Ensuring stock accuracy and material transactions are completed. Ensuring that finished trains are shipped in accordance with CAF procedures.


ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES.

1.0 Key responsibilities

  • Ensure daily stores targets are consistently achieved
  • Co-ordinate activities within the team as directed by the Team Leader
  • Ensure timely closure of NCR’s through the NCR process
  • Attend the daily MRB meetings
  • To be the point of contact for all issues affecting NCR (Non-Conforming Parts) related queries
  • Packing and arranging of shipments back to the suppliers
  • To lead the team in the absence of the team leader
  • To have a good understanding of BaaN and be able to investigate all transactions
  • Meet training requirements for new and existing Warehouse Operators; ensuring maximum efficiency is achieved within the store’s area
  • Ensure consistent standards of stock accuracy are met and maintained
  • Run daily cycle count reports against the monthly calendar to maintain the 99.50% accuracy including stock takes as when required
  • Working closely with planning and external partners to plan production for kitting
  • Contribute in a hands-on role in all warehouse activities
  • Ensure the delivery of materials to production lines in accordance with production schedules
  • Insuring KPI’s are monitored and teams briefed
  • Carryout regular team meetings and communications in the absence of the Team Leader
  • Support organising and participate in stock takes at regular intervals
  • Ensure that any computerised or automated systems are accurate and up to date
  • Ensure that health and safety risk assessments are completed and applied
  • Ensure hazardous materials are stored in accordance with requirements
  • Maintain high standards of security in the warehouse
  • Ensure a clean and tidy working environment to aid operational efficiency
  • Packing and shipping of components
  • Liaising with external agents for both storage and shipping
  • Ensuring the despatch of trains and components in a safe and timely manner
  • Ensuring housekeeping standards are met, audited, and improved
  • Writing of work instructions to complete daily tasks within logistics


2.0 Record keeping

2.1 Ensure accurate records are completed and maintained in accordance with procedures in place, and work in progress is communicated to Line Managers and team members.

3.0 Health, Safety & Environment

3.1 Ensure that all work carried out is compliant with health, safety and environmental legislation and Company policies and procedures.

4.0 Quality

4.1 Ensure all work carried out is compliant with Company quality management systems/policies and procedures.

4.2 Carry out quality checks to ensure, where relevant, product meets quality and safety standards

5.0 General

5.1 Is pro-active in the role and identifies improved ways of supporting the Company in managing its objectives.

5.2 Participate as and when required in team and one-to-one meetings and undertake training relevant to the role.

5.3 Keep up to date with developments within the Company and other sector wide practices that influence the day-to-day activities within the role, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and any other relevant external/internal factors, for example, Company policies and procedures, Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental.

5.4 Ensure, in the course of employment, complete confidentiality is maintained in respect of the Company, its dealings, transactions, and all other information relating to clients/ customers and staff.

5.5 Promote the Company by whatever means are appropriate and available so as to ensure a positive image to customers/clients.

5.6 Demonstrate commitment to the Company’s values, and its aims and objectives, and the implementation of its Equal Opportunities policy in the workplace.
