Job Summary

The opportunity has arisen within the Supply Chain Function for a Master Scheduler to join the Central Planning team in SIOP and Technology in Filton, Bristol.

The role will be considered on a permanent basis and will be an opportunity for those interested in progressing within the Planning function.

Maintain monthly SIOP and/or weekly MPS in order to balance demand and supply within available capacity and set Inventory targets.
Orchestrate the cross-functional SIOP and/or MPS activities following the GKN Aerospace standard.
This role is part of the Supply Chain Function and whilst your responsibilities are predominantly focused on Planning activities, there may be the requirement based on your skill set and experience to support the wider function when necessary due to business needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage, maintain and publish Business operations measures for both GKN Filton & Western Approach in line with standards and org structures [including Ops, planning, logistics and Procurement] OTIF
  • Continuous improvement of business measures, to include reduction of lead times, increase in accuracy and use of new technologies
  • Management of central planning master data for use in measures
  • Support the continuous improvements of measures & business processes with the appropriate level of business analysis
  • Support to the planning organisation in problem solving & business process improvements
  • Expert level for Capacity planning and Rough cut capacity planning to support operations and the bids process
  • Expert level for scenario modelling in support of the SIOP process
  • Understand and input into the Demand management process from Customer through to Supplier [including information and data flows] - inclusive of Demand Analysis reviews and recommendations
  • Support reviews of business processes and measures to ensure up to date risk assessments and workload requirements
  • Support the Master production process [de-coupling] for GKN Filton ensuring the correct checks and balances are made, reviewed and escalated with the business
  • Understand and identify ’critical path’ items and manage mitigation strategies
  • Application of PDCA approach to problem solving in line with Lean principles
  • Chair the weekly operations Site Performance Review [SPR], developing strategies and reports to ensure focus and cohesion for the business
  • Ensure that SIOP, MPS and Demand management processes align to global standards, risks identified and mitigations and options are recommended
  • Ensure that SIOP, MPS and Demand management inputs and outputs are reviewed centrally and recommendations shared with the business to gain the desired outcome
  • Support planning in monitoring manufacturing output/performance against the schedule/plan, challenging and understanding whenever performance differs from standard,
  • Support Programme Management in analysing Inventory levels in order to optimize/challenge current status and search for improvement opportunities
  • Provide communication/feedback to Line management in case of any issues and need for escalation
  • Manage or take active part in SC and Plant performance related continuous improvement projects/activities
  • Ensure system Master Data is up to date for all planning and scheduling purposes

  • Vocational Certificate
  • Expert level for: SIOP/ MPS/ MRP
  • Practitioner level for Forecasting & Demand Planning, Daily Scheduling & Execution, Master Data Management, Inventory Management, Internal Flow & Warehousing
  • “soft skills” from Leadership framework
  • Technical skills in excel, access and vba
