About the role:

We are looking for an experienced & energetic Insights Manager to join our busy marketing team working across two leading brands, Motors.co.uk (B2C) and eBay Motors Group (B2B - operated under licence from eBay UK).

This role is responsible for both strategy and execution, providing actionable insights to inform key marketing decisions and campaigns, translating first party data into engaging client stories and running qualitative and quantitative primary research projects (supported by external suppliers).



Key responsibilities:

  • Partnering with marketing teams and internal stakeholders, develop research plans and strategies that translate business goals into research objectives and activities.
  • Lead all primary research studies, working with external agency suppliers, including advising on sampling, questionnaire development, timelines and deliverables and presentation of results back to key stakeholders.
  • Own the brand tracking and reporting (supported by external supplier) combining this with owned data and other primary research to inform and advance consumer marketing tactics.
  • Manage the timely production of customer surveys and NPS scores, working with internal stakeholders to measure key points in the customer journey.
  • Turning insights into compelling stories and infographics (working design resource) for sales and marketing teams to drive acquisition and retention for eBay Motors Group & Motors.co.uk.
  • Collaborate with the Analytics team to produce regular reports harnessing car buying data to provide industry views on market trends.
  • Identifying wider opportunities for utilising first party data for DPR and thought leadership, working with Marketing Managers to execute campaigns and hit KPI’s.
  • Monitor competitor activity and trends digitally and offline, feeding this back into the business with recommendations.
  • Undertake ad hoc ‘opportunity’ analysis projects, utilising a combination of research tools and desk research to provide informed views to business leaders.
  • Be the POC for all internal stakeholders for research and insights, proactively sharing this in meetings and via other sharing tools and resource bases.
  • Manage the research budget to maximise the depth of insight delivered across the business units
  • Attending meetings and presenting insights to key clients, supporting account managers.

What we are looking for

  • Relevant experience as an Insights Manager in a brand or marketing landscape
  • Sound commercial foresight coupled with a strong customer orientation.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic working environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to break down data/information into meaningful findings and bring these to life with actionable recommendations.
  • Experienced in analysing data within Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Ability to demystify statistical metrics and techniques with stakeholders, sales and marketing teams
  • Prior experience of research techniques, methodologies, developing and managing primary consumer research (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Familiar with using market intelligence sources to monitor market trends and competitive performance.
  • Experienced in briefing in briefing and managing external suppliers
  • Experienced in briefing data visualizations to design teams, that tell a story in a clear and digestible way.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience using BI/ Data visualisation tools (i.e. Tableau) is desirable.
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint, Google suite (including Google Slides) and full Microsoft and Google Suite.
  • Inquisitive and passionate about automotive (no previous industry experience required).
