Cheddar Gorge and Caves (part of the Longleat Enterprises group) is a world-famous site set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of Britain’s most spectacular natural landmarks. From its awe-inspiring cliffs to its extraordinary subterranean stalactite show caves, Cheddar Gorge & Caves holds many fascinating secrets about our prehistoric ancestors, and is an international centre for caving and rock climbing. At 400ft deep and 3 miles long, England’s largest gorge with its spectacular pinnacles and beautiful caves (one is over 500,000 years old!) offer visitors an exciting day out all year round.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Marketing Executive to join our team for the re-opening of Cheddar Gorge and Caves. This diverse role is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate individual with marketing experience to lead on all off and on site marketing communications including PR, above the line advertising, social media and digital and other channels to drive visitors including consumer, trade and schools.

What will this role entail?

Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll be responsible for a diverse remit covering all aspects of the marketing mix. You will be devising and then implementing consumer marketing plans alongside the General Manager to achieve visitor volume, revenue and EBITDA targets for Cheddar Gorge and Caves.

Key duties will include:

• Manage local marketing budget and monthly reconciliation with support from Finance, includes taking responsibility for the Cheddar Gorge & Caves budget cost tracker.
• To lead on all onsite and offsite communications (signage, posters, banners, leaflets etc.) including writing design briefs and collecting print costs for marketing collateral.
• Act as Campaign Lead (media to include outdoor, direct, promotional, radio and online) for marketing campaigns for Cheddar brand, seasonal events (including Easter, Summer, Halloween, Christmas) and products (including Rocksport and Escape Rooms).
• Brief and coordinate the creation and delivery of ECRM campaigns in a timely manner through the appropriate agency for consumer and business to business markets and report results.
• Write design briefs for multi-channel assets and brief in-house designers and external designers. Provide feedback on the design work as it progresses to ensure it meets the set objectives.

What will I need to be considered for this vacancy?

• Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in Marketing, Business studies, Communications or similar field.
• Minimum of 2 years marketing experience.
• Proven copywriting experience with a keen eye for design and detail
• Experience of digital/social media and online platforms
• Good knowledge in the use of Microsoft applications.

You’ll be employed on a permanent 22.5 hour contract, working 3 days (Monday - Friday), including occasional weekends, evenings and bank holidays as required. earliest start time 9am, latest finish time 5.30pm.
