About The Site

Sittingbourne is the second largest of our operations where we also pack fresh fruit and vegetables.

Our pack house is in operation 24 hours per day, employing over 500 colleagues. We offer a broad range of roles based at site from Quality Assurance to Site Planners, Warehouse Operatives to Shift Operations Managers. We also have a small number of support roles to facilitate the day to day running of the operation.

About The Role

We currently have a very exciting vacancy for a Market Trading and Buying Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis.

The main office hours are 7am – 4pm, Monday – Friday however we would also be open to shorter days.

Your main responsibilities include;
  • Managing all BU Admin queries, resolving and focusing on root cause, reducing future issues.
  • Ensuring administrative processes whilst buying satisfy GSCOP processes and recording requirements for price confirmation including accurate filing on company server.
  • Managing third party admin and process, ensuring all activities are completed in line with agreed timescales.
  • Managing packaging forecasts for Business Unit, liaising with site, IPL packaging teams and 3rd parties.
  • Processing supplier/haulier claims following the IPL claims procedure.
  • Investigating pack house issues with relevant stakeholders and keep the Business Unit updated.
  • Monitoring and investigate where necessary pack house yields and costs providing updates to relevant Buyers.
  • Initiating and concluding the label confirmation process for new / existing lines by following the IPL Label Confirmation procedure.
  • Knowledge of and ability to step into planning role to provide suitable cover when necessary
  • Daily market admin including raising orders, allocating stock, inputting customer prices, running daily stock reports and all third party relevant business.
  • Daily communication with supply/market, gathering credible knowledge of market activity including produce prices, understanding overall supply and demand by specific product.
  • Credit control, reviewing customer accounts are within payment and credit terms, ensure all new customers are processed with the correct checks and go through IPL on-boarding process before trading. Checking and sending for processing invoices from suppliers.
What are we looking for?

We are looking for a motivated individual with outstanding verbal and written communications skills and who is able to priorities their work load whilst paying high attention to detail.

You will need to demonstrate cost saving procurement solutions implemented in previous roles and have integrity and credibility with a track record of delivering financial targets.

A GCSE in Mathematics and English, competent in using MS packages including Excel and experience of customer account control is essential.

Previous experience of working within the fruits category would be advantageous.
