MANUFACTURING QUALITY ENGINEER

We are seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer for our location on Longbridge Lane, Derby to be the primary manufacturing engineering point of contact with supplier and driving our Zero Defects programme.

ABOUT THE JOB

The Quality Function is responsible for ensuring that customer requests are understood and translated into robust processes, which comply with legal and quality approval requirements. This is achieved by working with all employees to increase the company’s efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability by identifying and facilitating opportunities for improvement.

You will conduct audits and assessments to verify product validation processes to ensure suppliers manufacturing system is capable of reliably achieving the engineering standards and interface with suppliers if things go wrong to agree technical resolution /investigation in timely manner to eliminate potential product integrity risks to the Incora business.

THE ROLE The Manufacturing Quality Engineer is responsible for:

  • Providing local point of contact for all technical issues to support the generation or modification of commodity strategies, and all sourcing activities

  • Building relationships with the suppliers to ensure smooth resolution of technical queries and processes

  • Educating suppliers in the application of manufacturing, measurement, and inspection methods

  • Expediting problem resolution to ensure all issues are quickly and robustly managed with minimum disruption to Incora and customers

  • Verifying corrective actions (at source whenever possible) to confirm robust fix and compliance to process

  • Improving RFT supplier submission of FAIR’s, Source Change, Concessions and DAR’s

  • Traveling on company business where necessary to ‘trouble shoot’ technical issues or support supplier issues

  • Participating in improvement activities at department / company level to enhance business performance
Key Responsibilities
ABOUT YOU

  • Engineering degree or HND / HNC or NVQ 3 with relevant experience in mechanical, manufacturing, process, or materials engineering

  • Trained in Dimensional Measurement, Geometrical tolerancing, Material /Process/Manufacturing specific topics (via NPL, AMRC, MTC or equivalent)

  • Auditor experience/qualification

  • Knowledge and experience of AS13000 (Problem Solving), AS13003 (MSA), AS13004 (PFMEA), AS13006, AS9102 (First Article Inspection), AS9100 or equivalent

  • Some experience of working within a manufacturing/aerospace facility

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings

  • Good presentation skills

  • Driving license
