With its most recent acquisitions, Heroux-Devtek is bolstering its status as one of the foremost landing gear, actuation and hydraulic system designers and manufacturers in the global aerospace industry.Division InfoThe Landing Gear Market specializes in the design, qualification, manufacture and repair and overhaul of landing gears and flight critical components to a customer base that extends from the OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to the Operators in both the commercial and military markets.Summary Of PositionReporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, the role presents an opportunity to work for and develop with a leading Aircraft Landing Gear manufacturer in an interesting and varied role. The position’s foundation is to define, support and continuously improve the manufacturing methods that enable Héroux Devtek’s products to be manufactured safely with the highest quality and as efficiently as possible. The role involves the creation, modification, and maintenance of manufacturing plans & bills of materials for both the OE and MRO workstreams using the company ERP system, providing manufacturing support with rework instruction and corrective actions, the design and modification of tooling and fixtures to aid landing gear assembly. Involvement in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives will form part of the role as well as supporting manufacturing and engineering investigations when required.Main Responsibilities
  • Creation, amendment and improvement of manufacturing instructions and methods.
  • Review and incorporation of design changes and maintenance data updates into the manufacturing environment through the Modification Control Group (MCG).
  • Development, implementation, and daily use of Infor LN ERP system for planning (creation of manufacturing routings) and creation and amendment of Bills of Materials.
  • Support the disposition of parts in our Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) business by providing guidance on rework/repair schemes for in-service components.
  • Generate bespoke repair and rework schemes in support of our Warranty return system.
  • Work with our Design Engineering Team to develop and modify rework schemes for recurring MRO repairs.
  • Generate production planning for Cadmium, Nickel and Chrome plating processes.
  • Support New Product Introduction through attendance at design reviews, identification of new tool/fixture requirements, creation of product structure within the ERP system and identification of risks through process analysis and PFMEAs.
  • Use of CAD design packages (Solidworks, CATIA, CATIA Composer) to support tooling, fixture design and visual manufacturing instructions.
  • Rapidly assess components through Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Provide day to day support on the shop floor for the manufacturing teams on manufacture/assembly and hydraulic test related issues.
  • Provide support for shop floor Health and Safety relating to manufacturing processes, tooling and test equipment
Qualifications
  • An individual with an engineering background and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand to read and interpret engineering/technical drawings for machining and assembly.
  • Experience of Infor LN ERP system, or creation of BOMs and planning within another ERP system (e.g. SAP or BAAN).
  • Experience of Solidworks for tool and Fixture design. Experience of CATIA and CATIA Composer is also desirable.
  • Assembly and Machine Shop experience within an Aerospace environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Processing and Plating techniques – Chrome, HVOF, Nickel, Zinc Nickel & Cadmium.
  • Experience of hydraulic actuation systems.
  • Experience of Quality tools and root cause corrective action
  • Experience of PFMEA activity in manufacturing.
  • Experience in creation of Risk Assessments.
