Summary

The Gartner Workplace H&S Risk Manager will develop and implement an enterprise wide associate workplace safety program. In addition to meeting all local legal requirements for workplace H&S, the Manager will develop a cross-functional network of internal and external partners and coordinators to support and drive the program, implement all processes and procedures necessary to be compliant, and help foster a culture of safety within the company.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, assessing health and safety needs and risks, implementing safety programs and policies, and developing systems, procedures, and tools necessary to effectively implement corporate safety programs and policies.

Reporting Relationship

The candidate will report to the Director, Physical Security Operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review the existing program gap analysis and develop a corresponding project plan to close those gaps.
  • Drive the development and execution of the H&S risk management strategy and vision.
  • Partner with Gartner Real Estate, site leaders, and corporate services leaders to drive successful, compliant H&S programs throughout the organization.
  • Monitor H&S performance through key performance indicators and relevant metrics.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide safety metric collection program, safety reporting program and site-specific reporting procedures.
  • Develop a site safety assessment program, review reports of findings, make recommendations for improvements, and ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
  • Develop a site risk assessment process and template to collect information on relevant H&S risks.
  • Develop and implement a program to increase safety awareness across the organization including, but not limited to, an associate H&S training program.
  • Keep apprised of emerging H&S issues where Gartner operates, including legislative and regulatory changes, and maintain an index of H&S policies and procedures according to local regulatory requirements.
  • Implement effective regional governance processes for health and safety risk strategies, policy and practices.
  • As required, develop and manage corporate, regional, and site safety committees.
  • Provide H&S expertise to the Gartner Crisis Management and Business Continuity programs.
  • Support corporate investigations where associate safety is at issue.
  • Respond to H&S queries made by the business.
  • Advise and consult with internal stakeholders and partners on H&S issues.
  • Where appropriate, coordinate with law enforcement, emergency management and other relevant governmental functions, as well as private sector counterparts, to ensure Gartner’s safety and emergency management policies and practices are aligned.
  • Ensure the workplace H&S program is aligned with associate health and wellness programs, pandemic planning, workplace violence and threat management, and occupational health.
  • Review end-to-end processes to identify potential innovations such as technology-enabled efficiencies.
  • Manage third-party and vendor business relationships, including liaising with Gartner Procurement and overseeing contract terms and ensuring that all service level agreements are met.

Key Skills
  • Extensive experience in developing, implementing and managing H&S programs across multiple geographies.
  • Skill and competence in communicating issues to senior leadership, including demonstrated ability to present complex issues in clear, concise terms.
  • Act as SME for all workplace H&S issues including workplace violence, threat management, pandemic planning, travel safety, and environmental threats.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Safety-related discipline or other related degree. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or demonstrated work towards professional certification preferred.
  • Experience in environment, safety and health sciences and/or emergency management
  • Strong technical, interpersonal and analytical skills with the ability to read and process complex written information with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Collaborative, team player who has a proven ability to identify and define objectives while managing resources within a budget plan.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated presentation and communications skills and ability to speak to senior audiences with subject matter mastery.

Special Requirements
  • The candidate should have the ability to travel up to 25% and have a current passport.
  • The candidate may be required to work evening or weekend hours in the event of a safety or security incident.
