The Manager of Business Systems Development, Meetings and Events, coordinates the engineering in charge of solution architecture, proprietary build needs, system integrations and support for current and new global applications within the portfolio. This role will report directly to the Director of Technology of Meetings and Events and will have responsibility for a team of 12-15 engineers. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record of business partnering to deliver quality work efforts, the ability to influence others, strong collaboration skills and a keen understanding of how to drive results.

Typical responsibilities include:

  • End-to-End technical ownership for delivery of technology projects
  • Holds daily stand-up calls to coordinate resources & workload
  • Resource allocation and planning
  • Preparation of sprint content, dependencies management, & plan and direct releases
  • Solution design technical components across the workstreams
  • Development guidelines, coding standards, and creation principles oversight
  • Expectation management with the team, peers, leadership and other related teams
  • Platform maintenance planning (upgrades, certificates) and support
  • Interacts with internal and external customers to define strategies and solutions to drive business results
  • Evaluate third party technology products and solutions as part of the strategic, ongoing execution of the function technology roadmap, with a pragmatic view of buying vs building technology capabilities

Key skills and experience:

  • Degree/Master’s in computer science/Engineering or IT work experience equivalent
  • A strong software architect with hands-on development experience and a consultative approach to design comprehensive solutions to address business needs
  • Have experience in managing/leading end to end systems development implementations in an AGILE setup, and JIRA as project management tool (preferred)
  • Be comfortable working on and geographically dispersed engineering structure (product managers, leadership and developers)
  • Self-starter individual that manages multiple projects at one time along with day-to-day business as usual tasks
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, presentation/facilitation and written communication skills
  • A strong plus experience in the Travel, Meetings and Events industry
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented design and coding skills across a variety of platforms (J2EE Technologies, .NET, SOA/Web Services, REST API, JSON, HTML/HTML5, CSS3, XML, AJAX, jQuery, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails)
  • Exposure to SQL and/or MariaDB and stored procedure development
  • AWS experience is preferred but not mandatory
