We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our Kier Rail finance team based in Salford, Greater Manchester.


Location: Salford, Greater Manchester

Business Area: Kier Transportation, Rail

Contract: Full Time, Permanent


What will your responsibilities be?

As a Management Accountant, you’ll be working within the Rail finance team, supporting several Finance Managers to manage the budgets, drive contract efficiencies, recover costs and provide insightful and timely reporting to Senior Management. The position sits within the Transportation Finance Function. An important part of the role will be building a strong network around the finance, commercial, projects, admin and FSSC teams to support the Finance Managers with month end reporting and cost management.


Your day to day will include:

  • Preparation of management accounts through to trial balance for the projects
  • Support Finance Manager with construction of budgets, forecast and variance analysis.
  • Preparing and posting the journals for accrued / deferred revenue, prepayments, accruals, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliation for review.
  • Managing cash recovery from the client ensuring projects adhering to monthly applications / third party invoicing

What are we looking for?

This role of Management Accountant is great for you if:

  • AAT, CIMA, ACCA, ACA, FCA or equivalent
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly MS Excel).
  • In depth knowledge of Construction industry ideal
  • Understanding and experience in management accounting principles and budgeting
