Purpose of Role:

To ensure that the manufacturing process and operation is fully maintained to the required standard, capable of producing high quality solutions efficiently and consistently, using the most cost-effective and efficient methods. This will include all tools, equipment, processes and associated supporting services. This role also encompasses all statutory checks required by the relevant Health & Safety Legislation. Ensure that the design of offsite production solutions takes into account all considerations required for efficient, safe manufacture and delivery. To assist in the process optimisation and continuous improvement to maximise performance and ensure that the business’s manufacturing capability is aligned with the developing needs of the business. Maintaining tools & equipment or control of any out sourced solutions.

Key responsibilities:

§ Equipment availability

o Ensure all equipment, tooling, facility resources and production capabilities are maintained to allow for maximum availability, to allow the production programme to be met.

o Maintain & repair equipment, tools and services or coordinate subcontract repair or replacement.

o Coordinate & control the maintenance of equipment that is covered by the relevant H & S regulation, such as LOLER, PUWER etc to ensure the company is fully compliant. Maintaining the relevant records of inspection & servicing.

o Continually review equipment availability, to investigate & develop improvements which can improve overall equipment/process availability.

§ Facility maintenance & upkeep

o Coordinate the facilities maintenance to the required standard and availability of relevant resources.

o Coordinate the facilities maintenance and servicing in-line with the relevant legislation, maintaining relevant records.

o Maintain the facilities where skills allow or coordinate relevant subcontractors.

§ Process Optimisation and Implementation

o Assist in the manufacturing operation design, for optimised production. Implementing any relevant changes.

o Undertake relevant tooling, jig, fixture manufacture or changes to improve the production process.

o Assist in developing the most efficient process flow for manufacturing, taking account of work content, sequence and dependencies, labour requirements, tools and equipment requirements and quality requirements.

o Assist in the design and implement optimised process layouts, developing detailed designs for and implementing any required work stations, assembly centres and production lines.

o Assist in the preparation of work instructions, standard operating procedures and training material for all manufacturing activities, identifying the critical inspection points within each process.

o Assist in maintaining any required factory process and quality certifications including ISO9001, BOPAS and CE marking.

o Support any new product design/introduction to ensure all manufacturing equipment is available at the required time.

§ Continuous Improvement

o From the measurements of the existing manufacturing methods and processes, where opportunities for productivity, efficiency, quality or H&S improvements have been identified, develop Implement these improvements.

o Support the development, implementation and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) across the business, ensuring action is taken to drive performance improvement and address performance shortfalls where necessary.

o Working with the Production Engineering Manager implement improvement strategies where opportunities to improve exist.

o Continuously seek opportunities to eliminate waste and increase value, applying principles of Lean Manufacturing wherever possible.

o Stay current and up-to-date on any new product or technology opportunities that may contribute to improved manufacturing performance. Take best practice from other industries and develop where appropriate into our production processes.

§ Candidate Requirements

o Experienced in the manufacture of volumetric or panelised off-site solutions, desirable

o Familiar with construction products and materials, desirable

o Good communication and organisational skills, essential

o Lean manufacturing experience, desirable

o Health and safety focussed, IOSH Working Safely or Managing Safely, desirable

o Quality management experience with ISO9001/BOPAS experience desirable

o Proficient in the use of IT systems, Microsoft Project, Excel, ERP/MRP systems, desirable

o Designing & specifying production equipment, tooling, layouts & facilities, essential

o Coordinating & controlling mandatory checks on equipment, Essential

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £35,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
