Organization

The Howmet structures business manufactures metallurgically advanced lightweight multi-material solutions that range from titanium mill products to titanium forgings, extrusions and assembled systems for aerospace and defense applications.

Responsibilities
  • Design, Promote and Carry out Preventative Maintenance
  • Ensure all machines are safe and fit for purpose
  • Installation of new machines and equipment as required
  • Overhaul and upkeep and repair of all plant machines. A background in heavy industrial machinery would be advantageous.
  • Review and Advise on Engineering requirements and drawings
  • Electrical bias with mechanical knowledge
  • Work with large hydraulic systems
  • Work with chemical processing equipment
  • Actively promote safe working practices
  • Work with and Coordinate Contractors
  • Undertake repairs and servicing to the highest standard in accordance with work requests and pre-determined specifications
  • Fault Finding, testing, and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures and parts
  • Where a detailed specification is not provided determine the cause of the fault and then undertake the most cost effective solution to remedy the defect
  • Effective Communication – keeping Management and relevant parties aware and seeking advice and assistance when required.
  • Any other duty as may be required commensurate with the grading of the post and the skill of the post holder
  • Work overtime and respond to call outs as required in line with the remit of the post.
  • Cherry picker licence – preferable (training will be given)
  • High voltage work(training will be given)
Qualifications

Training & Education
  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience: multi-skilled maintenance engineer (electrically biased) City & Guilds / ONC in electrical engineering
  • Recognised maintenance / engineering apprenticeship
  • Experience of hydraulic presses, electrical heated ovens, compressors, and chemical process lines
  • Experience in fault finding and rectification
  • Capable of using a PC completing Excel & Word doc’s to write up maintenance information
  • A-C GCSE Level or equivalent in English and Maths.
  • Health & Safety Training.
  • Working at heights training
