Embark on an exciting career journey with our esteemed client based in Newport Dock, offering a remarkable opportunity for a long-term position that could evolve into a permanent role after a qualifying period. You will be responsible for repairing, replacing, and maintaining all machinery and structures on site in an efficient and professional manner, either as part of a team or on some occasions by yourself as required. Working in our Newport site, the successful candidate will be part of a team working under the supervision of a knowledgeable and supportive Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting repairs, replacements, and maintenance of machinery and structures on site efficiently and professionally, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ensuring safety protocols and housekeeping standards are maintained in the workshop and plant area.
  • Collaborating closely with the Maintenance Manager to execute maintenance plans and address any issues promptly.
  • Managing front-line maintenance contractor safety and adhering to risk assessment procedures.
  • Promoting a Zero Harm workplace culture and driving continuous improvement in Health and Safety practices.
  • Providing cover for the Maintenance Controller role during holidays, sickness, or absences.
  • Coordinating with suppliers, including obtaining quotations for parts and services, and ensuring availability of critical spares.
  • Maintaining the engineering workshop and managing parts inventory in coordination with the Maintenance Manager.
  • Adhering to all Company policies related to Code of Conduct, Environmental, Health and Safety, and Community.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Upholding integrity and confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Proficient in written and verbal communication.
  • Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines, particularly during breakdown situations.

Qualifications:

  • Electrical biased with a time-served apprenticeship and relevant qualifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health and Safety legislation.
  • Proficiency in ICT skills, including Microsoft Office suite.

Benefits & Requirements:

  • Hourly rate as above (not age dependent)
  • 28 days Paid Annual Leave pro-rata for PAYE (inclusive of statutory holiday)
