Title: Prep room operative / Machine Operative

*** GREAT OPPORTUNITY WITH AN IMMEDIATE START *** Due to an increase in workload, our client, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of access, storage and manual handling equipment currently requires a Prep worker to join their team based in Redditch to work on the day shift. This opportunity will possibly lead to a permanent position within the company after successful trial period. Immediate starts available. Duties will involve using a variety of machines and tools, with some previous experience essential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prime responsibility is to produce all the materials needed for the welding/fabrications department, working to manufacturing lists and drawings to meet the requirements of ISO9001 Quality and Inspections Procedures
  • Set and Operate any machine (with training) used in the preparation section
  • Ensure all jobs are fully kitted ready to handover to the next department
  • Daily machine total preventative maintenance checks (Tube Bender, Bandsaws, Euromac, Pillar Drill, Notcher, Swager, Light Guards, Stop Buttons etc)
  • All materials delivered must be put away by the end of the shift in the correct tote pans and steel bar racks
  • Assist with repairs when required
  • Bring to the attention of the Team leader any non-conforming items or practices
  • Adhere to any current quality operating procedures, an up to date copy will be retained by the Operations Director
  • Turn machines/motors off when not in use (electric)
  • Ensure all hand tools are on the correct shadow board and pallet trucks are put away in your area
  • Communication across all departments to ensure products hit the required lead time and each team are kept in the loop with any delays
  • Excellent housekeeping to be adhered to at all times

  • Good knowledge of how a prep area works
  • Numerate and literate with clear communication skills - able to interpret measurements
  • Time management skills
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Effective verbal and listening communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines
  • Organisational skills essential

Working Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday 7:45 - 16:45
  • Friday 7:45 - 12:45

Pay Rate:

  • 11.50 per hour
  • Overtime paid at time and a half after 39 hours at 17.25 per hour
