York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) was created in 2018 and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Our expert teams provide specialist services to healthcare organisations in a whole range of areas from catering and cleaning, waste management to maintenance of medical equipment and buildings and infrastructure. Our highly skilled staff offers knowledge and expertise gained over many years, combining the highest levels of service and standards with continued cutting edge developments in Estates and Facilities Management.

The Estates Department is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual to work as part of a multidisciplinary management team. The department provides management, development, maintenance and operational support for the Trust’s buildings and engineering infrastructure. The role is critical to the Estates Department’s maintenance support service and is demanding and varied as it covers a range of engineering services. The role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning and maintenance of a range of engineering services in the Trust’s clinical and non-clinical facilities of a very busy directorate and to be part of a team that is constantly working to improve the quality and safety of the Trust’s healthcare facilities.

The successful candidate will be based at York/Scarborough but must be willing to work at any of the Trust’s sites when required. You will be part of a team working dayshift Monday to Friday but also covering when necessary across other Trust sites hence you must be flexible regarding the hours of duty and will be expected to undertake appropriate training as part of the job role.

The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of Building / Mechanical services. The role requires the person to have knowledge of healthcare infrastructure, building systems and maintenance on associated equipment such as plumbing and heating systems.

The successful candidate must be able to work co-operatively as part of a team comprising of electrical, mechanical and building specialists and have demonstrable experience of working within a maintenance environment. In addition, the successful candidate should be highly motivated, reliable, resilient and enthusiastic as well as being able to work under pressure with the minimum of supervision.

The successful candidate will be required to travel independently across the Trust sites.

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management LLP (YTHFM LLP) provides a full range of estates and facilities services to York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, together with project management for capital investments. YTHFM LLP is a partnership between York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Northumbria Healthcare Facilities Management Limited.

DBS Checks -All new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. The charges are currently £27.68 for a standard check and £44.68 for an enhanced check. The level of check will be determined by the post you are applying for. Please note that Volunteers and Bank only staff will not be charged.
