Equans is looking for a Maintenance Assistant to join our team in Burnley on a permanent basis for our Lancashire and Blackburn Schools contract. This is a full time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary and benefits package.

General Overview:
The incumbent will play a pivotal role in ensuring the timely completion of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in accordance with established schedules. This position involves meticulous filing of all assigned PPM documentation in their designated locations, as well as providing essential support to the technical team in resolving issues as they arise.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Efficient PPM Management: Take charge of organising, managing, and closely monitoring the execution of PPM tasks to uphold operational efficiency and compliance standards.
2. Resolution of Corrective Works: Proactively address and rectify any corrective works identified during the completion of PPM tasks, ensuring prompt resolution to minimise operational disruptions.
3. Technical Support: Extend assistance to the technical team as needed, demonstrating flexibility and readiness to address site-wide issues promptly and effectively.
4. Routine Maintenance Tasks: Execute minor routine maintenance tasks as outlined in the PPM program, including scheduled maintenance activities during school holidays, to maintain the integrity of school facilities.
5. Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and make necessary adjustments to ensure optimal performance of plant and associated systems, adhering to predefined operational thresholds.
6. Inspections and Reporting: Conduct comprehensive internal and external inspections of school premises, diligently documenting findings and assisting in the preparation of insightful reports to inform decision-making.
7. Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and updated records of maintenance activities and related documentation, facilitating efficient tracking and analysis of maintenance performance metrics.
8. After-Hours Support: Be available for after-hours support activities as required, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring uninterrupted service delivery.
9. Resource Management: Ensure availability of adequate supplies and consumables necessary for job completion, proactively managing inventory levels to prevent disruptions.
10. Waste Management Compliance: Adhere to established procedures for the safe and efficient handling of waste materials, contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.
11. Adverse Weather Response: Respond to adverse weather conditions in a safe and responsible manner, implementing appropriate measures to mitigate risks and ensure continuity of operations.
12. Safety Compliance: Carry out all duties in strict accordance with established safe working practices, statutory regulations, company policies, and recommended guidelines to promote a culture of safety excellence.
13. Issue Reporting and Recommendations: Promptly report any identified issues to the Supervisor, providing insightful recommendations for enhancing service quality and efficiency.
14. Continuous Development: Pursue ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay abreast of evolving industry standards and maintain service excellence.
15. Storekeeping: Maintain organised and efficient storage of equipment, tools, and materials to facilitate easy accessibility and inventory management.
16. Coverage of RP Duties: Assume responsibilities for RP duties during absences, ensuring seamless continuity of essential services.
17. Collaborative Approach: Foster a collaborative and cooperative working environment, actively engaging with colleagues, school representatives, and facility users to deliver a customer-focused service aligned with the school’s objectives.
18. Safety Culture Advocacy: Uphold the company’s commitment to a Safety First, Incident & Injury-free culture, actively promoting safety awareness and adherence to best practices.
19. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure alignment with service delivery goals and enhance overall customer satisfaction.

Experience
  • Good hand and tool skills
  • General DIY knowledge
  • IT and IT system Knowledge
Skills/Ability/Knowledge
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of health and safety principles.
  • Able to organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines
Education/Qualification
  • Full UK driving licence essential.
  • GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent
  • Relevant trade or vocational qualification
Personal Qualities
  • Capable of working on own initiative with minimum supervision
  • Able to work as a team player and pass on knowledge to others.
  • Possess good communication and customer care skills
  • Flexible and willing
  • Prepared to work out of hours as necessary
