About Our Client

Our client based in Leeds is a Logistics Planner - Freight Forwarder within Sea, Road and Air freight and are looking for an additional member to come on board due to team expansion

Job Description

The successful candidate will join my clients operation near Leeds as a Logistics Planner - Freight Forwarder and will undertake the following roles and responsibilities:

  • organise all FTL, Part Load and Forwarding shipments by Road
  • handle day-to-day operational issues maintain smooth flow of information in amongst other office - staff, and between UK offices
  • upload data into system accurately and up to date, with special care and attention to job-costing estimates
  • make suggestions to Supervisor or Manager about potential operational setup changes in order to ensure maximum efficiency
  • Receive invoices from freight forwarders - ensure that these are in line with agreed pricing and correctly coded before approval
  • Receive orders from distributor customers in the Middle East and elsewhere - liaise with the Commercial, Finance and Supply Planning teams to process and ship - arrange necessary shipping and export documentation
  • monitor own performance, and continually make necessary adjustments to ensure maximum efficiency
  • ensure that the base of weekly KPI data is entered into the system on time
  • liaise with clients about possible new leads or opportunities to expand services
  • ensure that all quote requests are dealt with immediately, and are fully documented
  • monitor market changes and inform Team Leader regularly about buying/selling price trends
  • liaise with subcontractors to build strong working relationships
  • Ensure that sea, air and road freight is booked to move shipments from suppliers to markets on time and in line with freight utilisation targets
  • liaise with accounts - and other departments within the UK
  • keep all operational documentation together, and file away on time
  • execute own tasks in compliance with ISO minimum standards
  • make sure your own behaviour and telephone manner is up to Standards, and is presentable to all our partners

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will live within a commutable distance to Leeds, Bradford, Halifax and Wakefield and will have the following attributes:

  • Previous experience in organising FTL, Part Loads and forwarding Shipments by road.
  • Experience in using Microsoft packages.
  • Sea, Air and Road Freight Forwarding experience - Essential
  • Relevant Logistics experience within a similar global role - ideally within a fast-moving, international consumer products business
  • Experience in managing supplier relationships - knowledge of sea, air and road freight procedures and markets
  • Good commercial understanding
