The opportunity

Project: Building a fleet of safe, reliable nuclear power stations in the UK to secure a low-carbon energy future. The project is a diverse and collaborative organisation committed to engaging stakeholders, obtaining development consent and preparing for the construction of the power station.

With the construction of the recent project successfully underway, the client is now developing plans to build a further power station in the east of England. Mace has been supporting the client on the development of the nuclear project since 2011 and continues to act as a key framework supplier under a variety of workstreams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing integrated and phased logistics plans, including but not limited to people movement, material movement, the introduction of abnormal loads and others to meet the overall construction schedule and milestones.

  • Providing temporary infrastructure requirements and plans including roads, footpaths, utility routings schematic plans for detailed design.

  • Coordinating requirements for logistics plan content with the construction team, project managers and contractors. Delivering construction logistics plans.

  • Communicating the plans and strategies clearly to the relevant service contractors for them to complete detailed design and implementation.

  • Providing support to construction and site operations to ensure planning supports the principal contractor duties and obligations, including coordination of works, emergency arrangements, including fire planning.

  • Working with project controls, provide and maintain a site-wide consolidated people and freight forecasts to aid future site planning, based on multiple contractor forecasts and estimated information and data.

About you

You have experience in major construction projects. You have experience in planning/delivering temporary infrastructure and enabling construction logistics. You are proficient in the use of IT - MS Office, CAD types programs (i.e. Naviswork, Synchro) and P6 program management. You are a good communicator, ability to convey a message of implementing changes and gain support across a wide range of stakeholders. You will have experience in a construction or consultancy industry within the nuclear sector and be hungry to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
