Logistics Manager

Coventry

A Coventry business is seeking a Logistics Manager to run the whole Transport and Warehouse operation to help them fulfil an increasing level of orders. Supplying retailers and wholesalers across the UK, from small regional businesses to large blue chip companies covering the whole of the UK, this role will offer the appointment an exciting and challenging opportunity to heavily influence the success of a small SME making the transition to a large SME business.

You will be responsible for around 35 staff in the warehouse team over two sites and the transport management of their in-house fleet of class 1 and 2 vehicles to deliver their products to customers across the UK.

This position would suit an individual from a fast-moving background.

Job Duties as the Logistics Manager

  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through excellence in receiving, identifying, dispatching, and assuring the quality of goods.
  • Identify areas of improvement and establish innovative or adjust existing work procedures and practices.
  • Management of a team of around 35 staff including functional managers, team leaders, operatives, and drivers.
  • Management of a team of drivers to enable the on-time delivery of the finished product.
  • To check all driver licenses and driver CPC qualifications (DQC) are valid prior to driving a Company vehicle.
  • Retaining driver’s hours records (no less than 12 months) and working time records (no less than 24 months) in a manner that means they are available upon request to any statutory or otherwise interested body
  • Monitor driver daily defect checks to ensure that all drivers are completing and returning their driver defect reporting sheets and that defects are recorded correctly
  • Complete adequate checks of records to ensure that drivers and mobile workers take adequate breaks and appropriate periods of daily and weekly rest
  • Manage the maintenance process to ensure that all vehicles and trailers are kept in a fit and roadworthy condition.
  • Ensure that defects are either recorded and repaired promptly, or where not roadworthy are taken out of service
  • Ensure that all fleet and driver records are compliant with all aspects of DVLA & VOSA.

Skills and Experience required in the Logistics Manager role

  • You will need to have operated as a Warehouse and transport manager/operations manager/Logistics Manager.
  • A strong understanding of transport/logistics.
  • Up to date knowledge of current transport regulations and compliance.
  • Organisational and time-management ability.
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude.
